The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) developed the certification standard VDA 6.1 for manufacturers of series parts in 1996. This standard covers the quality requirements of most German auto manufacturers and their Tier suppliers. It is also recognised by the automotive industry associations in France and Italy.
To be awarded the supplementary VDA 6.1 certificate, certification to ISO 9001 is essential. The VDA standard contains approximately 120 audit questions. For key issues such as initial sampling, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and quality planning the VDA provides useful manuals in its series of “red” books.
At DEKRA our auditors offer support throughout the certification process. As the largest European automotive service provider, we have the experience and expertise needed to help your company acquire VDA 6.1 as well as ISO 9001. And, should you decide to go for certification to the even more comprehensive global industry standard ISO/TS 16949, we will be pleased to help.
